Sports: Running, triathlon, hiking
Profession: Insurance adjuster
How I got started in sports: I grew up playing softball, soccer and basketball. But after starting a family, I found that with two kids and a full-time job, fitting in time to play team sports was too difficult.
About a year ago a friend got me into biking. I also began running, building up to 5ks and 10ks. From there I added swimming, joined TriChic.com and finished my first triathlon in July.
Favorite spot to be active: Georgia's Silver Comet Trail. I love running on trails, especially with lots of trees and beautiful scenery.
Life/sport philosophy: It's not about winning but the sense of accomplishment.
Athletic highlights: I focus on personal goals. I continue to improve and get faster with each race.
Athletic goals: Win my age group in a sprint triathlon and do a half Ironman before I'm 40.
Favorite fuel: Strawberry-banana smoothies and Luna bars.
When I'm not running, cycling or swimming, I'm: Spending time with my husband and two daughters (ages 4 and 9). We're often in the backyard playing soccer or softball together.
Other interesting facts: I not only do this to stay healthy, I also want to be a good role model for my daughters and other girls. I love that my 9 year old really wants to do a triathlon. I'd like to get involved in an organization that encourages and supports girls in sports.
